Installation

Prerequisites

• Only Chromium extensions are supported.
• An unpacked Chromium Manifest V3 extension.
• Node.js 20 (20.19+) or 22.12+, with ES modules (ESM) enabled in your project.
• Playwright Test 1.59 or later.

Install

Install the package:

npm

npm install -D playwright-webext

Yarn

yarn add --dev playwright-webext

pnpm

pnpm add -D playwright-webext

If you haven't already installed Playwright Test and its Chromium browser, install them too:

npm

npm install -D @playwright/test
npx playwright install chromium

Yarn

yarn add --dev @playwright/test
yarn playwright install chromium

pnpm

pnpm add -D @playwright/test
pnpm exec playwright install chromium
